Target’s Market Pantry brand was losing traction against an ever-changing landscape of national brand and private label competition, so a package design refresh was in order. Starting with identifying three key areas in need of design enhancements, we went to work. One, we developed a callout system to promote nutritional facts and key product benefits. Two, we improved shopability by addressing hierarchy and inconsistencies. Three, we enhanced the instructions, making them more engaging and easy to follow. The design enhancements tested successfully in both quantitative trials, justifying a storewide rollout. Results? Target saw a 25% jump in overall sales the first year alone – now that’s what we call a boost to the basics!
